Madagascar from Uncharted 4 // Personal Practice

I recently had the opportunity to play Uncharted 4 and was completly blown by the Madagascar level. Composition of environments in game and the "red mud" tone give to this place a unique identity that I wanted to try to reproduce.
I decided to imagine that the team needed two types of artwork: the first focused on the light and the mood, and the second more focused on a photorealistic approach, with texture work, ground reflections, caustics, scales etc...

Just to be clear, I did not work on Uncharted, this is only a personal practice ;)

Just check the work of the amazing works of Nick Gindraux and Eytan Zana who worked on the Madagascar level! ;)

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed to work on it! ;)

First Step: I wanted to have a painted final image, to focus only on light colour and composition. It gives me more focus for the next step: photobashing

I decided to "open" the composition by removing the big rock on the right.
